Residents Complain About Elon Musk’s X Logo Placed on Twitter Headquarters

The rebranding festivities of X’s (previously known as Twitter) came to an abrupt halt within a week as the colossal X emblem situated on the company’s San Francisco headquarters was observed being taken down. Following the announcement of the new brand name and logo by Elon Musk, the owner of the company, the swift installation of the logo had become an unpleasant sight for numerous residents and officials in the area, prompting them to file complaints with the city. It remains uncertain whether the logo will be substituted with a new one or not.

It was first reported by CNBC, which noticed that workers removed the X logo on Monday. In hours, the entire logo disappeared. The latest reports from the scene said that the logo had not been inspected as of 1:00 PM EDT (10:30 PM IST). The report also highlights that the San Francisco Office of Building Inspection received as many as 24 different complaints. The complaints stated that the logo was installed without permission, was dangerous and harmful.

Twitter’s giant X logo removed

According to one such complaint filed by city officials and reviewed by The Verge, Twitter repeatedly refused access to its roof, telling officials it was a “temporary lighted sign for an event.”

However, many complaints submitted by local residents indicated some serious concerns about the logo. In one such case, photos were posted on Twitter showing that the logo structure was supported by sandbags.

Some also shared videos of the logo over the weekend, where very bright lights could be seen pulsating and moving across the logo. The intensity was so high that some neighbors even complained that they had to keep the blinds open all the time.

Patrick Hannan, director of communications for San Francisco’s Department of Building Inspection and City Planning, told The Verge that the building’s owner was issued a violation notice after the department received complaints about structural safety and lighting.

He also revealed that the owner of the building will be fined for failing to obtain “building permits for the installation and demolition of the structure” and cover the costs of the facility’s inspection and investigation.
