Unlock Your Chats – Secure Them with a Secret Code!

Over the past few months, WhatsApp has been implementing several new features aimed at enhancing security and improving the user experience. One of the latest additions is the integration of an email verification feature, and now the messaging app is working on introducing another feature that will enable users to conceal their locked chats using a secret code. Users will have the ability to choose their own code, consisting of letters, characters, and numbers, in order to ensure the security of their conversations. Find out more about how this new WhatsApp feature will operate.

WhatsApp secret code for locked chats

According to a report by The Verge, WhatsApp is rolling out a secret code feature to the app to allow users to lock their chats with a secure code. Earlier this year, the app introduced a locked chat feature that allows users to hide chat content, and now with a secure code, they get an extra layer of protection for people who have access to their WhatsApp.

WhatsApp passcode allows users to lock the entire conversation with a code or password that can be created using letters, numbers, special characters, and emojis. Also, this feature is so hidden that other users won’t know if you have a locked chat folder. According to reports, users have to enter a secret code in the search bar to access the chat folder. In addition, the use of a secret code is not mandatory, as you can also display your locked conversations in the chat list if you wish.

To use the feature, users just need to long press on a conversation and set a code for the chat instead of going to the WhatsApp chat settings.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement on WhatsApp, during which he said, “Now you can make your locked conversations visible only when you type a secret code into the search bar, so no one can ‘accidentally’ find your most private conversations.”

WhatsApp’s secret code feature has started rolling out globally and users will get the feature on their smartphones in the coming months.
