As expected, Apple has released the iOS 17.1.2 update for all iPhones that support iOS 17. Unlike some previous releases, such as the iOS 17.1 update, this release focuses on security fixes. Apple notes in the changelog that it is recommended for all users. Alongside iOS 17.1.2, the iPhone manufacturer has also released iPadOS 17.1.2. It also has bug and security fixes.

Before you begin, make sure your iPhone is charged. We recommend charging it to at least 60% before proceeding with the update. Next, make sure you have a supported iPhone. If you have an iPhone XS or later, you should be good.

To install the iOS 17.1.2 update on a compatible iPhone:

  1. Go to iPhone Settings, go to General > Software Update.
  2. Allow the iPhone to refresh the page and allow the update to appear.
  3. Now you can either update immediately or later in the evening.
  4. Select Update now. The update should start downloading.
  5. Once it’s downloaded, your iPhone will ask if you want to install it now – proceed with the installation.
  6. That’s it! Within a few minutes, your iPhone should be updated to the latest software available.
