Unlock the Power of Search: Threads Introduces Keyword Search for All Languages!

Threads, the social media platform fueled by Instagram, has been consistently enhancing its functionality by introducing fresh features. Many of these additions were highly sought-after by users, and their long-awaited arrival has brought immense joy to the user community. In a recent development, Threads has now made keyword search available worldwide, catering to all languages. Initially, this feature was tested in specific English and Spanish-speaking regions, but it has now been extended to encompass all users.

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, posted on Threads and announced the feature. He said: “Today we’re expanding keyword search everywhere Threads is available. This feature is supported in all languages – we hope this makes it easier to find and join the threads you’re interested in. More improvements to search are coming soon.”

Threads finally gets keyword search

Keyword searches, along with hashtag searches, have been the most requested feature of Threads. This feature has been requested by users to improve content and user discoverability and to easily find topics of interest.

Mosseri mentioned that more improvements will be added to the keyword search feature soon. While we don’t know what they might be, they might be advanced search metrics like in X (formerly Twitter) that let you search for multiple keywords as well as search for posts from a specific time period.

Despite adding a keyword search feature, Threads still strictly adheres to inappropriate keywords, including offensive, discriminatory and sexually explicit words. These keywords are not showing results.

Last month, Threads introduced a feature that allows users to individually delete their Threads account without affecting their Instagram account. This changed the situation from before, where once a Threads account was activated, it could not be deactivated unless the associated Instagram account was also deactivated.

At the same time, Mosseri also announced that users will soon be able to opt out of the feature that displays Threads posts on Instagram and Facebook. He said: “We recently introduced a feature that allows people to easily see Threads posts directly on Facebook and Instagram, helping to expand your audience and increase your reach. We’ve heard feedback that you want more control over the experience, so we’re introducing a way for you to opt out Outside of Threads, in Settings → Privacy.
