Unlock the Power of AI: Google Introducing Two New Features on YouTube!

US tech giant Google is reportedly testing at least two new creative AI features designed to improve the YouTube viewing experience. A limited number of YouTube users will be able to try out these new additions during Google’s testing phase.

According to MacRumors, AI classifies YouTube videos with large comment threads, themes, or topics to facilitate discussion. Content creators can use these comment summaries to contribute to conversations or get inspiration for new content.

It’s important to note that these topics are pulled from posted comments and are not generated from comments that have been held for review or contain blocked words.

This comment test feature is currently available on mobile devices and users with access will see a star icon on selected English language videos.

In addition, YouTube introduces a conversational AI tool that can provide answers to questions related to the video you are watching.

It can provide background information, suggest related content, and more without interrupting video playback. For academic videos, this AI can even provide quizzes and answers for deeper understanding of the content.

The conversational AI feature is currently limited to a small number of users on a subset of videos, and those with access will see a star icon indicating its availability.

While some users are testing these options, YouTube Premium subscribers can take advantage of these new features, as YouTube Premium subscriptions include access to experimental features.

According to MacRumors, comment threads are already available to premium members, while the conversational AI feature will roll out in the coming weeks.

In related news, Google is now allowing its Workspace users to make direct 1:1 calls forward. Until now, Workspace users had to create a meeting link before the actual meeting, which was then shared as a calendar invitation via email or chat. But now users can make “cloud-encrypted 1:1 video calls” to other users through the Meet mobile app.
