Windows 11 to Feature AI-Enhanced Outlook App for Mail and Calendar

Microsoft has announced that the upcoming Windows 11 devices will have an upgraded Outlook app with AI capabilities pre-installed. This new app will replace the current default mailbox applications, including Mail, Calendar, and People, starting in 2024.

Microsoft stated in a blog post: “Starting in 2024, all new Windows 11 devices will have the new Outlook for Windows as the default mailbox app, available for free to all users. The Mail and Calendar apps will continue to be available for download from the Microsoft Store until the end of 2024.”

On existing devices, users can switch to the new Outlook for Windows using a switch in the Mail and Calendar apps.

The exciting new Outlook app for Windows integrates state-of-the-art AI capabilities to improve email composition. Users can expect assistance in creating impactful and error-free messages, ensuring clearer communication. In addition, the artificial intelligence-powered Outlook application can serve as a useful reminder to follow up on important conversations.

To get a preview of the new Outlook app, users can activate the “Try the new Outlook” switch in the upper-right corner of the Mail and Calendar app or the traditional Outlook for Windows app, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

In other news, Microsoft is releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23481 to the Dev Channel, which includes a revamped Window Ink experience. The technology giant explained in a blog post that the modernization of Windows Ink allows users to use ink input directly in editing fields.
