Nothing Phone series could finally enter the budget segment in 2024 as per reports and it might give other brands some competition.News

In 2024, the budget model “Nothing Phone 2a” may pose a competition to OnePlus Nord and Redmi Note.

The Nothing Phone series will get a new addition in 2024, and according to reports, the future may be preparing a budget phone model for consumers. Nothing is said to have a special launch event at Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024) in Barcelona, where we could see the Nothing Phone 2a smartphone unveiled.

Aside from the name, very little is known about the Phone 2a so far, but new details have emerged recently, suggesting that Miäk could take a different approach with its budget device.

First, you might notice the new Glyph LED design on the back, which sets Nothing phones apart from other brands. But more importantly, the company could use the MediaTek Dimensity chipset for the first time, which could help the pricing of the Phone 2a to be much more aggressive.

The new rear design leaked in clips this month suggests that the value segment will be the focus, which could make the Phone 2a a possible competitor to the OnePlus Nord series and the Xiaomi Redmi Note range in the $400 (roughly Rs. 32,000) range.

The Phone 2a is rumored to have a 120Hz OLED display, the only model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The good thing about the Phone 2a could be its software, and Nothing could deliver Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5 on a budget device that should give it a clear edge over other brands.

Nothing has worked like a premium brand in the first place, so the new product could be a big departure from the original attitude. It could also be related to Nothing’s growing business, which guarantees a better price-quality ratio in the product range, which could bring more numbers to the company.

It might be hard to go against the Nord and the Redmi Note, but one wouldn’t want its unique focus to favor buyers. We should know more about the Phone 2a early next year to see how it fares for Carl Pei and Co.
