Details of WhatsApp’s ‘Favourite Contacts’ Feature for Quick Calling Under Testing

WhatsApp is mainly known as an instant messaging app. However, it cannot be ignored that a significant number of users also use it for voice calls, especially in situations where there may be no cellular connection, but Wi-Fi is available.

This is why WhatsApp has been working to improve the call experience over time. And now it’s expected to double down on that by adding a new feature that lets you set some contacts as favorites so you can call them quickly. This way, you don’t have to dig deep and find the contacts of the people you interact with on a daily basis.

As spotted by WABetaInfo, the same was found in the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.3.10.70 update available on TestFlight. “Favorite contacts appear at the top of the call tap, so a call is always just one tap away. This feature is designed to improve overall usability by including a quick and intuitive shortcut to quickly call your favorite contacts directly from the calls tab,” notes the release.

This will certainly make it easier to make calls to people you are in frequent contact with, and this will save you the multiple steps required to call someone with just one tap.

In other news, WhatsApp is developing a chat lock feature for its online client. This development is expected to be useful for users who rely on the web client to manage their WhatsApp chats.
