Details of WhatsApp’s upcoming feature allowing users to select a default theme color

The year 2024 is here and WhatsApp does not hesitate to add new features to the app. Now it is said to be working on a new feature that will allow iOS users to theme the app.

As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a new theme feature for its iOS app, as seen in the latest WhatsApp Beta for iOS 24.1.10.70 update. The publication states that users can choose a default theme color for the application from five different colors. In the shared screenshot, we can choose green, blue, white, coral and purple color.

However, it marks a significant departure from the green hue that the app has been known for over the years, be it iOS or Android. This change would surely also cheer up WhatsApp users who may be tired of the green color and want a change or simply want to tweak the aesthetics of the app to their liking. WABetaInfo further points out that WhatsApp might even be planning to change the color of the chat bubble in the future.

When will it be available?

For now, this feature is still under development, which means it’s not yet available to beta testers. However, it shouldn’t be long before we see it in the beta version of the iOS app. For now, you can customize the app by choosing a chat wallpaper. You can choose between bright, dark and solid color, but you can also choose your own image.

In related WhatsApp news, WhatsApp is testing a new update for its online version that includes a darker color theme and a revamped sidebar. This can potentially help reduce eye strain when using the app and improve its aesthetics.
