Fitbit App Revamp Focuses on Streamlining User Experience

The Fitbit app is undergoing a significant makeover, focusing on simplicity, personalization, and motivation. The update divides the app into three tabs, streamlining the interface and enhancing user-friendliness. These tabs include Today, Coach, and You, each providing access to distinct metrics and activities.

The Today tab collects all the stats and metrics you want, so you can check everything at a glance. This is fully customizable, so change the stats displayed to match your personal goals. Although it’s called “Today,” you’ll also get a bird’s-eye view of health trends over the past month or year with charts, graphics, and icons.

The Coach tab is all about motivation, with curated lists of exercises and mindfulness sessions. You can filter these workouts based on availability, the equipment you own, and your overall fitness and health goals. Fitbit Premium subscribers can access more content than free subscribers, such as dance cardio classes.

Finally, there is the You tab. This is where you can access your achievement badges and various progress metrics, in addition to connecting with other Fitbit users and changing your personal information. The company says that everything here is kept private and isn’t even used for Google ad data.

It’s worth noting that the update doesn’t change which features are free and which are only available to premium subscribers. The redesign is already rolling out to select Fitbit users as a beta product ahead of a global launch this fall. More changes are coming to the platform in the future. Starting next year, users will need to sign in to Fitbit apps with their Google credentials as the Fitbit brand is phased out.
