India’s domestic smartphone brand Lava has expanded its 5G smartphone range in India by launching the Lava Blaze Curve 5G. From my initial use, the device looks promising thanks to the versatile combination of hardware and software. These include a curved 120Hz AMOLED display, a clutter-free Android experience, and Widevine L1 support.

The highlight of the device is its 6.67-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED panel that supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and has a peak brightness of 800 nits. It also supports HDR, HDR 10+, HDR 10 and Widevine L1 certification for users’ media consumption needs.
Based on limited usage, the display looks sharp and vibrant. It’s not that bright outside in the sun though, but gets the job done. In terms of performance, as mentioned earlier, the Blaze Curve features the 6nm-based Mediatek Dimensity 7050 chipset, which is also found in the Lava Agni 2. The SoC is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
In terms of optics, it has a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a third 2-megapixel macro shooter. For selfies and video calls, you have a 32-megapixel front camera. Based on initial testing, the camera seems reasonably priced, but has a tendency to blow highlights. It can record videos at up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second.
For all that power, you’ve got a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging, and yes, you get a compatible charging bar in the box. And in terms of connectivity, you get 5G support with the following frequencies: n1/n3/n5/n8/n28/n41/n77/n78.

The Lava Blaze 5G price in India starts at Rs 17,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and goes up to Rs 18,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant. The device will be available from Amazon, Lava E-store and Lava Offline Retail Network.
Lava Blaze Curve 5G: First impressions
After almost a week of testing, there is not much wrong with the device. The software experience is refreshing for the price – without ads and bloatware. The standout feature is the software that sets it apart from its competitors. Although Lava still runs on Android 13, it has promised two OS updates to Android 14 and Android 15, as well as three years of security updates.
The hardware is also decent – the performance is fast, the battery lasts all day and more, and the design is very high quality for the price. When he handed over the phone to my mother, she estimated its price at around Rs 35,000, underscoring the appeal of the phone’s design. The curved front and rear panels, while uncomfortable for some and me, contribute to its aesthetics, and the weight distribution is well-executed.
