Alphabet Inc's Google has begun early conversations with domestic suppliers to move some production of its Pixel smartphone to India, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.News 

Report: Google To Begin Manufacturing Pixel Phones In India

According to sources familiar with the matter, Google has initiated preliminary discussions with local suppliers to relocate a portion of its Pixel smartphone production to India, as reported by Bloomberg News on Tuesday.

Global tech giants are eyeing India as a manufacturing hub to shift away from China after strict COVID restrictions hampered production in the country.

Earlier this month, Apple’s supplier Foxconn was given the project to start iPhone manufacturing in India.

Google has spoken to Lava International Ltd, Dixon Technologies India and Bharat FIH, the India unit of Foxconn Technology Group, Bloomberg said.

Lava, Dixon, Bharat FIH and Alphabet did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
