Android 15 update will coming later this year but the developer preview 2 version shows us the features that people can expect.News

Sharing audio, sending satellite messages, and tracking devices offline

Android 15 QPR beta comes with new goodies for smartphone users who can expect significant updates later this year. Google I/O 2024 is confirmed for May 14th, and that’s where we’ll hear more from the company about the next version of Android, but most of us won’t have to wait that long to see what Android 15 has in store. A developer version of QPR 2 available now if you want to play around with half-baked and buggy Android flavors.

iPhones have had satellite communication technology for a few years, and Google is ready to develop its own technology with Android 15 this year. But what else can Android users expect in the form of new features in Android 15? Here’s a quick summary of what’s been found so far.

Android 15 features are expected this year

Voice sharing

The Android 15 developer build has already shown us glimpses of this feature, which basically means you’ll be able to share one song with multiple headphones when you get a phone running Android 15. This works by pairing them together to stream music over Bluetooth Low Energy. with another device that is compatible with Auracast.

Keep the Find My Device feature activated when the phone is turned off

That’s right, Google has finally enabled the Find My Device feature to work even when the phone/tablet is turned off. Android 15 makes this possible thanks to the new Powered Off Finding API, which allows the device to be connected to the Find my network at all times. Google takes the help of Bluetooth beacons to intercept these offline devices, which not only work on Android 15, but also need hardware support. The Pixel 9 series and even the 8 models could be the first to get it later this year.

Private space for apps

Google has a default interface that acts as a private mode for apps and even confidential information that it doesn’t want people to easily find on the phone. It is likely that Android 15 will provide a biometric lock to keep apps and data safe in this mode, you no longer need another app for that.

Satellite messages on Android

Android 15 could finally see Google bring satellite communication technology to Android users. We’ve already seen signs of the technology coming to Android last year, but 2024 may be the year Android fully integrates into an emergency-centric calling and messaging network. We’ll hear more about this at I/O 2024 in May, and it’s likely the Pixel 9 series will debut on the service.

These are just a few of the features expected to be part of Android 15 this year, but many more are expected to arrive in the coming months.
