WhatsApp Introducing New Feature to Send and View Images and Videos Just Once

WhatsApp, the popular meta-owned instant messaging platform, is reportedly developing a new messaging menu that sends images and videos. These measures are implemented to improve the user interface of the application:

The app explores a new way to set photos and videos as one-time views. Currently, there is an icon in the caption bar that allows users to set media as view once.

“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.3 update available on the Google Play Store, we’ve discovered that WhatsApp plans to change the way users can set a single view for photos and videos in the future,” WABetaInfo reported.

According to the report, the instant messaging app tells users to press and hold the send button to set the image to view once. When you press and hold, a new menu will appear, allowing the user to choose whether to send the image as a one-time message.

Owned by Meta, it makes similar improvements to videos as well. Currently, however, GIF files cannot be sent in single view mode, even with the new message menu. It is possible that WhatsApp may introduce GIFs in this mode in the future as the view once feature continues to evolve.

WhatsApp’s plan to expand the “look once” feature to cover different media types, such as text and voice messages, has created a need for improved send buttons. This is the most convenient way to send any type of message at a time.

A new message menu to send to view when photos and videos are in development and will be available in a future update of the app.

In related news, the instant messaging app has also started allowing users to edit media texts after sending them. This means users can change the captions of the photos, GIFs, documents and videos they post.
