WhatsApp works in a split view interface for Android tablets: Learn more

WhatsApp, one of the most used instant messaging platforms around the world, is working on several features to provide a better user experience on its platform. According to a new report, the Meta-owned messaging app plans to bring split view to the tablet version of the app.

Split screen allows users to view the chat list and the chat window at the same time, and is also available on the call and status tabs.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, a website that follows WhatsApp, the messaging app will add a split view to the tablet version. WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.5.9 contains a reference to a modified user interface.

The report also revealed that the chat list appears when opening a chat. This allows users to quickly switch between chatting and multitasking. The Calls and Status tabs are also tilted for a split view. The redesigned interface is currently limited to WhatsApp Android beta users, and we may see a public rollout of the redesigned interface in the future.

The modified user interface of the tablet version is available after the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android is installed from the Play Store. If it is not available on your WhatsApp account, wait for the upcoming update as it will be coming to more and more people in the coming days.

The report suggested that users can easily switch between conversations without losing track of their ongoing conversations thanks to a split view. Also, the split view definitely makes it easier to manage and organize your conversations, as it’s possible to quickly scroll through the conversation list to find what people need without having to leave the current conversation.

An earlier report suggested that WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.6 will allow users to link an Android tablet to an existing WhatsApp account. The feature appeared in September of last year and has been in development but has not been rolled out to users.
