X Now Offers Video and Audio Calling Capabilities

Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) has finally added support for video and audio calling after the feature was rumored to be coming to the app for months. The feature is currently only available to X Premium (Twitter Blue) users and currently only available on iOS. However, according to X, support should soon come to Android as well.

“We’re releasing a new way to communicate in X, voice and video calls. Voice and video calls are now available on iOS and soon on Android,” X said on the support page.

If you are a free user, you can still receive calls and users can choose who can call them in the direct message settings. X notes that by default users can receive calls from accounts they follow or are in their address book. Also, there is another condition: to call a user, you must DM them and they must have DMed you “at least once before”.

As mentioned earlier, you can control who can call you, and this feature may be off-putting to many users. Here, let’s see how to disable video and voice calling feature on X.

To control who can call you, or to remove a call from X entirely, follow these steps:

  1. Open X and go to the DM section. Here, in the upper right corner, you will see the settings icon. Tap on it and open it.
  2. Next you will see an option to disable the feature completely, you can do so if you want.
  3. But if you just want to limit who can call, you can choose from ‘People in your address book’, ‘People you follow’ and ‘Verified users’.

You can call X as follows:

  1. Open your direct messages.
  2. Tap an existing DM conversation or start a new one.
  3. Tap on the phone icon.
  4. Tap the phone icon and then “Voice Call” to start a voice call, or tap “Video Call” to start a video call.

The person you are calling will be notified that you are calling them. If they don’t answer, they get a notification that they don’t answer the call.

With the addition of video and voice calling, Elon Musk’s X moves one step closer to its goal of becoming a one-stop shop for all communication — whether it’s calling, writing long content, posting long videos, or getting work done. a portal (not published) with its own job postings in company profiles.
