Global Outages Briefly Impact Instagram, WhatsApp And Facebook; Services Now Resumed

Meta’s platforms, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook, encountered temporary interruptions from midnight to 3 AM today.

According to Downdetector.com, the highest number of users reporting problems occurred around 1 a.m., after which the number of complaints began to decline. The problem has now been fixed according to the company’s instructions.

Acknowledging the issue, Meta Platforms tweeted: “We know some of you may be experiencing issues with our apps today. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”

Reuters reported that at one point in the outage, about 20,000 users faced difficulty accessing Meta platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, according to Downdetector.com data.

Users reported issues affecting them on Twitter. “Is Instagram down?? Can’t post story updates,” one user said. Another user tweeted: “Don’t worry your account wasn’t hacked, Instagram is down.”

Currently, Downdetector.com shows no significant increase in reports or indications of outages, suggesting that the issue has been resolved. Meta has also since tweeted to confirm that the issue has been fixed. “Fixed! The issue has been resolved and things should be back to normal for all our apps. Thanks again for your patience,” Meta said.
