Introducing WhatsApp’s New Feature: Instant Video Messaging

After months of development, WhatsApp has finally introduced its highly anticipated short video messaging feature. Initially released to beta users in June 2023, the WhatsApp Instant Video Message is now officially available to all users. This new feature operates similarly to the instant voice messages, providing a seamless and convenient way to send and receive video messages.

This feature should not be confused with regular WhatsApp video calls. WhatsApp Instant Video Message allows you to record and share short 60-second personal videos directly in the chat. You cannot send pre-recorded videos using this feature.

To send an instant video message, tap to switch to video mode and hold to record the video. You can also swipe up to lock and record the video hands-free. Videos will automatically play muted when opened in a chat, and tapping on a video will start audio. Video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption to keep your messages safe.

When you send or receive a video message, you need to zoom in by tapping the video once if you want to listen to the audio.

“Video messages are a real-time way to respond to conversations, whatever you want to say and show in 60 seconds. We believe these are a fun way to share moments with all the emotions a video brings, whether it’s wishing you a happy birthday, laughing at a joke, or delivering good news,” WhatsApp explains.
