iPhone 14 Dynamic Island will soon offer Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation

iPhones equipped with Dynamic Island will soon offer turn-by-turn navigation similar to Google Maps. Apple introduced the Live Activities feature in the dynamic notch of the iPhone 14 Pro series, and now Google has signed up to the platform and is bringing its app to iPhone users via Google Maps.

Google announced this week that means iPhone users can use their 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max models running iOS 16 and get turn-by-turn navigation in the notch or even on the lock screen.

Get real-time arrival times for your destinations and turn-by-turn driving directions when you drive, cycle, walk or even use public transport (in some countries). While this is running on Dynamic Island, you can long press the wide notch to open the full app with more information.

Google has shared the details, but we still have no idea about its application through live actions for iPhone users and what the Maps interface will look like in real time. As you may know, Apple introduced Live Activities with iOS 16, and third-party developers had to wait for iOS 16.1 to integrate their own apps into the platform.

Apple brought Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro series in 2022 and demonstrated its potential with demos of several apps like Spotify, Apple Maps and more. With third-party apps slowly rolling in now, Apple is finally getting a chance to showcase the versatility and functional use of the new display technology.

Google has also introduced an immersive new look for Maps, which is coming to select countries for now. Maps is a popular tool used by millions of Android and iOS users, and with the rise of electric vehicles, it wants to help people find fast chargers in their area.
