Microsoft Issues Urgent Security Alert: Update Windows Immediately!

Earlier this week, Microsoft released the July 2023 Patch, a security update for Windows that addresses a total of six zero-day vulnerabilities. Additionally, this patch is expected to resolve approximately 132 flaws within the operating system.

Six of these are zero-day issues, which, according to the company, have been actively utilized. A zero-day security is any attack that has been made public, but for which there is no official fix.

Microsoft has already issued a fix for five of the six serious issues. Interestingly, while the previous version has hundreds of security flaws, Microsoft has classified only nine of them as critical, this report explains.

A single RCE flaw that has yet to be patched has become a serious concern for cybersecurity companies that have seen multiple exploits. Apart from these, the company still hasn’t patched the Microsoft Edge browser vulnerabilities with this patch, and we hope it will be patched by next month.

Most of the pressing issues involved the threat of remote code execution, which could give any bad actor access to those machines and control their data, processes, and more. Microsoft is said to be investigating the issues reported over the past few weeks and is also aware of the potential threat to affected consumers.

One of the data security problems is also related to Office files, which an attacker can create to gain remote access to the system. Having said that, the company assures that the vulnerability can only be exploited if the victim opens a malicious file. There are some security risks associated with Windows drivers that can be installed using a loophole in the system to install malicious kernel mode drivers.
