Spotify Introduces Music Videos as a New Feature Exclusively for Premium Subscribers

Spotify is bringing a new popular feature that it hopes will attract new users and get them to pay for the platform. Spotify has announced music videos for its premium subscribers, which is basically a direct competition to YouTube and YouTube Music as well. It’s interesting that it’s taken Spotify this long to get this feature, which YouTube Music has offered since the beginning.

The feature allows you to switch a track between audio and video with one click. Spotify’s version of this feature is currently in beta, which means you can only change the mode for a limited number of songs. Spotify says the feature is currently available in 11 countries, including Germany, the UK, Poland, Brazil, Colombia, Kenya and the Netherlands. Notable absences include the United States and India.

The company says that these are just the first batch of markets where the feature will be rolled out, so we can expect to see more of it in the near future. Spotify’s new premium feature also works in the Android, iOS, desktop and TV app. All you need to do is sign in with your premium account and get access to the audio video converter tool available in the Now Playing section.

Spotify has a lot of paid subscribers, but the growth hasn’t been sharp in recent years. The platform is getting desperate and closing the door on many basic features to free users.

Spotify no longer allows free users to listen to songs repeatedly, play music in any order, tap back to play the same song, and more. Now you also have the option to play music videos and prepare to pay monthly or yearly fees for the platform.
