Threads App Surpasses 150 Million Users Despite Decline in Usage

Despite a decline in usage, Threads, Meta’s alternative to Twitter, has managed to surpass 150 million user sign-ups. Meta introduced Threads on July 5, making it available to iOS and Android users in 100 countries. Despite the drop in usage, the app remains one of the most popular free apps on the App Store.

According to Data.ai, the app has crossed over 150 million downloads worldwide within seven days of its launch.

“It did so 5.5 times faster than the second fastest to date, Niantic’s Pokemon GO, which has had the biggest app launch since it debuted in July 2016,” the report said.

Recent data revealed that Threads has achieved the highest user presence in certain markets, with India leading the way, accounting for around 32 percent of its downloads.

India is followed by Brazil, which accounts for about 22 percent of Threads’ installations, and the United States, which represents nearly 16 percent of the total.

The top five markets for Threads are Mexico, which accounts for 8 percent of downloads, and Japan, which accounts for 5 percent, according to the report.

Threads surpassed 100 million user signups within five days of its launch. The app surpassed 2 million sign-ups in just two hours after launch, 10 million users in seven hours, and 30 million in just 12 hours.
