WhatsApp Now Allows Users to Access Two Accounts on One Device

WhatsApp has been testing the ability to use multiple accounts on the same device, preventing you from using two phones to use the messaging app. And now Meta has officially confirmed that the feature will roll out to Android users in the coming weeks and months. Such features are handy for people using dual-SIM phones, which is mainly the case for WhatsApp users in markets like India.

WhatsApp clearly explains that multi-account support requires a second phone and a SIM card active in a different number for the feature to work. However, you also have the option of using this tool on phones that accept an eSIM card, which means that those using premium Android phones can also activate their second number on the device instead of carrying two everywhere.

“We’re introducing the ability to be logged in to two WhatsApp accounts at the same time. Useful for switching accounts – like work and personal – now you don’t have to log out every time, carry two phones or worry about sending messages from the wrong place,” WhatsApp explains in this post.

We first discovered multi-account support in the WhatsApp Android beta, which allowed beta testers to use the feature and report any bugs that might cause problems.

WhatsApp Multi Account Feature: Here’s How It Works

So how can you activate two phone numbers for WhatsApp on the same device? Here are the steps given by WhatsApp:

– Open WhatsApp on your Android phone

– Click the three-dot menu and tap Settings

– Click the down arrow next to your profile name

– Add another mobile number to your WhatsApp account

– Follow the instructions to verify the number and start using another number with the same WhatsApp account

WhatsApp has not shared information about the version of the Android app that supports this feature, but we have used the option to add a second mobile number in WhatsApp beta version 2.23.21.12 for the past few weeks and we expect the public release to have the same version.
