According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently testing a feature that will allow users to create alternate profiles. This duality can be useful for those who want separate profiles for personal and professional use without two devices or SIM cards. It would allow users to have a different profile picture and name for different profiles. In addition, they can restrict the viewing of their profiles to only those who do not see the primary profile.
The report states: “For example, if only your contacts can see your profile picture, that means people outside of your contact list can’t see it, but they can see your alternate profile picture.”
The feature is currently under development and will be available in a future version of the app, WABetaInfo says. It is important to note that even though WhatsApp is testing many features, not all of them will make it to the final version of the app. Therefore, it is possible that this feature may not work at all.
