YouTube Premium Achieves 100 Million Subscribers Milestone

Google-owned YouTube has surpassed 100 million Music and Premium subscribers worldwide, including trial periods, in January of this year.

Adam Smith, YouTube’s chief product officer, said that from a small beginning to a community of 100 million in more than 100 countries, “we are grateful to our subscribers for their support.”

“We remain focused on delivering a best-in-class experience to our global YouTube community,” he said in a blog post.

Over the past year, YouTube improved the Premium playback experience, added the ability to continue watching YouTube on different devices, such as smart TVs and tablets, and introduced an enhanced version of 1080p HD.

“We also experimented with new generative AI features that Premium users were among the first to experience,” Smith said.

The platform introduced listeners to the Samples tab, a lightning-fast way to discover new music, a fully custom radio building experience, and brought podcasts to YouTube Music.

Neeraj Kalyan, head of T Series, said that YouTube Premium and Music crossing the 100 million subscriber mark is indeed a big milestone for the music industry.

“We continue to invest in a strong partnership with Google that will help grow the subscription business, improve the fan experience and contribute to the overall growth of the Indian music ecosystem,” Kalyan said.
