Tired of notifications on Meta's new Threads app? Here's how you can configure your settings to choose which notifications you receive, and which you don't. Follow this step-by-step guide.News

Meta Threads Secures $2.5 Million in Seed Investment

Meta’s Threads app, a direct rival to Twitter, has garnered over 95 million Threads generated and attracted more than 30 million registered users. In a recent development, Elon Musk’s Twitter account has allegedly issued a legal notice to Meta, accusing them of intellectual property infringement.

Now, in the midst of all this, those who have registered on the platform are well aware of the flood of notifications when Instagram users (friends) join Threads. This means that every time someone follows you, likes a post, or comments on a thread, a new notification pops up. After a while this can become annoying. That’s why here’s a quick fix to set which notifications should pop up and which shouldn’t.

Fortunately, Threads uses Instagram’s framework, so the overall setup experience is pretty much the same. You can change how notifications work by going to the Profile section of the Threads app and following the instructions from there. The process is largely the same on both Android and iOS.

To enable or disable notifications in threads:

  1. Go to your profile and tap the top right menu with the double lines.
  2. Select ‘Notifications.’
  3. Here you will find three options:  You can pause all notifications for up to 8 hours. Under “Threads and Replies” you can choose whether you want notifications for likes, replies, mentions, reposts, quotes, and first threads. And under Followers and Followers, you can choose whether you want to be notified when you get a new follower, notifications about account suggestions, and more.
  4. Under Threads and Replies, you can choose from notifications: From Everyone, From People You Follow, and Off.
  5. You can also go to the notification settings on your iOS or Android device and decide to turn off all notifications permanently.
