Pixel Phones Get Enhanced Car Crash Detection and More New Features

In a recent system update, Google has introduced several new features for Pixel smartphone users. The car crash detection feature has been significantly enhanced, as it now not only notifies emergency services but also shares real-time location information with emergency contacts. Additionally, the update has made it simpler to initiate emergency sharing or schedule a safety check by enabling voice controls.

The recording feature has received a major update, with the new ability to export transcripts to Google Docs and create labels based on the speaker so you can easily find the clip you want later. The photo timer also received an update, allowing you to start taking self-timer photos by raising your palm to start the countdown. This only works on Pixel 6 and newer phones.

If you have the well-reviewed Pixel 7 Pro, there’s been an upgrade to macro focus, as the feature can now handle both stills and video, detailing footage from a beetle climbing a flower or whatever. For all you Pixel phone owners out there, Google Assistant is getting a glow, with a bunch of new voice and language options. And it wouldn’t be a system update without some emoji tomfoolery, so there are new emoji wallpapers that let you mix and match images with patterns and colors to create unique backgrounds. The update brings even more wallpaper goodness through dynamic cinematic (3D) options.

Pixel Watch owners weren’t left out, with a new heart rate tool that tracks your upper and lower thresholds, an automatic pause tool, and the long-awaited blood oxygen monitor. These features will be removed now, but it may take a few days or weeks for the update to arrive on your device.
