WhatsApp Update: Group admins will soon be able to accept new participants

WhatsApp, one of the most popular instant messaging apps around the world, is reportedly rolling out a new group chat feature on its platform. The Meta-owned application publishes a group policy to manage the acceptance of new group participants

“This feature would allow group admins to control how new member approval works in their groups. Specifically, when the option is enabled, anyone trying to join the group will require administrator approval,” WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo reported.

After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.6.9 update from the Play Store, the website found that it is now rolling out to beta testers.

According to the report, there is a new option called “accept new participants” in the group settings section. If this option is enabled, the group administrator must approve people joining the group manually.

The report suggests that this feature definitely offers more control over who joins the group: by toggling this option, group admins can now accept or reject new participants when they join the group, even if they’ve used the group’s invite link.

Also, it can really help admins limit the large number of requests they get from people wanting to join a sub-group of their community. The feature is available to some beta testers who install the latest updates to WhatsApp beta for Android from the Play Store, and will roll out to more beta testers in the coming weeks, the report said.

At the same time, WhatsApp is also rolling out a new update to its Windows native app through the official beta channel on the Microsoft Store. It is now possible to select multiple messages after clicking “Select” from the context menu of the conversation on top of the message.

Alternatively, you can click anywhere within the conversation to bring up the “Select messages” option. This button allows users to select multiple messages in a conversation and then delete, star, copy, or send them all at once.
