Apple CEO Tim Cook Announces Arrival of Apple’s AI Features Similar to ChatGPT in the Near Future

Apple CEO Tim Cook officially confirmed the continued development of Apple’s generative AI capabilities during today’s quarterly earnings call. Cook said the company’s generative AI-based software capabilities are expected to be available to consumers “later this year.”

These remarks by Cook support insights shared by industry experts, including Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Recent speculation suggests that iOS 18 is set to be the “biggest” update in the operating system’s history. iOS 18 is expected to be released later this year, in the summer during WWDC.

“Looking forward, we will continue to invest in these and other future-shaping technologies. That includes artificial intelligence, where we continue to spend a huge amount of time and effort, and we’re excited to share details of our ongoing work in that space later this year,” Tim Cook said.

Cook concluded by adding that Apple has a “tremendous opportunity” with generative AI, but he couldn’t go into specifics just yet.

It’s not clear how Apple will integrate generative AI into iOS, or perhaps even iPadOS and macOS, but reports say it’s expected to be included in key apps like Messages, Apple Music, Pages, Keynote and, of course, Siri. .

Additionally, Cook’s comments come at a time when most of its competitors, including Google and Samsung, have delivered not just one, but a bunch of generative AI-powered features with their recent flagships, so the pressure is certainly growing on Apple to match them. And with AI becoming a major selling point for these smartphones, it’s no wonder Apple wants to jump on the bandwagon and reap the benefits themselves.
